Royal Ascot

Each year in June Ascot racecourse plays host to the most important race week of the entire season – Royal Ascot. For 6 days Her Majesty and husband travel to Ascot Racecourse to partake in a bit of a gambling. Each year me and the girls spend way to much money on dolling ourselves up and we pop along to join in the fun. This year we kept our fingers crossed for good weather and luckily for us we managed to avoid any rain! Ascot is such a good day out spent drinking and betting on the horse with the best jockey silks or funniest name. Sometimes we actually win too – always a bonus!

We started our day at 10am with sparkling wine and breakfast baps before heading to the main event.

I wore a dress by Rare, shoes and bag by Topshop, fascinator from department store Daniels (in Windsor) and I borrowed a silk pashmina from my mother.

On arrival we rushed straight to the bar for Pimms then settled in place to watch the brass band.

We gathered with the crowds by the racetrack to wave in The Queen as she arrived then we placed our bets and crossed our fingers.

We spent the afternoon drinking, cheering and gambling. A few of us won but then proceeded to spend the winnings on a new bet so I think we were all down by the last race! After race 6 everyone moved to the bandstand for a mass sing a long to some good ol’ British anthems.
